Mohali Golf Range Golf Cup on March 11

The Mohali Golf Range will conduct the MGR Golf Cup 2018 on March 11 to commemorate the third anniversary of its inception. The championship will begin at 9 am at the Sector 65 range, the organisers said here today.Mohali Golf Range president and Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Government of Punjab, Vini Mahajan said the MGR Golf Cup had been introduced to celebrate the three years of the inauguration of the range.The president further said the championship will be made an annual affair. The trophy will be awarded to the club that emerges the winner in the inter-club competition, she said.The event will be conducted in the presence of IGU certified referee Col Harkirat Singh. Children above 4 years can compete in the day-long event in various categories, the president said, adding that the interested players can register for the championship at the range by paying the prescribed fee. The last date of registration is March 9. After the competition, participation certificates will be awarded to the players.Teams from Chandigarh Golf Academy, Chandigarh Golf Club, Panchkula Golf Club, SEPTA Chandimandir, Kapurthala Golf Club, PAP Jalandhar Golf Club, Imperial Ludhiana, Bahadurgarh Greens Golf Club and Army Golf Club, Jalandhar, have been invited to participate in the event.An inter-school competition will also be conducted and there will be a separate prize for the youngest participant, Vini said. The golf equipment and balls for the competition shall be provided by the range.A separate category has been formed for the Mohali Golf Range supervisory staff to make the event more inclusive.Established in 2015 by the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority, Mohali Golf Range was awarded in 2017 for providing the best facilities by the Indian Golf Industry Association.
